ESCANABA, MI - Bay College Cross Country will welcome collegiate programs from across the region on Saturday, September 13th, for the Norse Cross Country Invitational at their Farmhouse course (4568 20th Rd., Gladstone, MI 49837).
The meet marks the only home event of the season for Bay College , giving local fans a rare chance to cheer on the Norse as they race against a competitive collegiate field.
The Women's 5K race will start things off at 10:30 am, with the Men's 8K starting at 11:15 am.
Team scoring will follow standard collegiate championship format, with awards for the top individuals and the winning teams in each race.
The Farmhouse course, which has hosted the MHSAA U.P. Finals in the past, now boasts a distinctive addition: a route that takes runners directly through one of the on-site horse barns. This unique feature has quickly become a highlight for both athletes and spectators.
"Hosting our own invitational is always special, but this year feels even bigger with the updates to the course," said Bay College Cross Country Coach Scott Carhoun. "The barn section has become a signature part of the layout, and we're excited to showcase it against some strong competition."
Admission is free, and community members are encouraged to come out and support the Norse runners on their home course. For those who can't attend in person, Bay College will provide a livestream of the races at: https://youtube.com/live/dHtsTEaOnD8?feature=share
