Droubie Takes Player of the Week Honors for the Second Time

ESCANABA, MI – For the second time this season, Bay College's Emerson Droubie has been named the MCCAA Northern Conference Player of the Week, this time for his play during the week of February 16-22.

It was an unconventional conference week for the Norse as inclement weather postponed their Wednesday home matchup against Kirtland Community College to Thursday.  Mackinac Bridge closures prevented the Firebirds from traveling north, postponing the game once again.  The two teams decided to pay on a neutral court on Sunday at Delta College.

First, the Norse were scheduled to play Delta College on the road Saturday afternoon.  In that matchup Droubie (FR, Cambridge, MN) helped lead the Norse to a 92-65 win.  Emerson was seven of 13 from the three-point line and had a double-double in the contest, scoring 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  He also had three assists and three steals.

Returning to action the next day, Droubie did not cool off one bit.  He was six of 14 from behind the arc against Kirtland and eight of 16 overall.  In a close game that saw 14 ties and 23 lead changes, Droubie's 24 points, four rebounds, and five assists helped lead Bay to an 87-83 victory.

For the week Emerson averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4 assists, and two steals per game.  He shot 53.3% overall and was 13 of 27 from three-point.

Droubie's previous Player of the Week honors came just two weeks ago.  It is the fifth time a Norse player has been named to the honor for Bay's Men's Basketball Team this season.
