ESCANABA, MI – The Bay Norse Softball Program has their first commitment for the upcoming school year. Escanaba native Madison Griffin has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Bay College.
Maddy plays third base for Escanaba High School and hit for a .415 average during her junior year. Her five doubles, one triple, and two homeruns were good for a whopping .612 slugging percentage, while she was on base at a .494 clip. Griffin was named to the All-District team last season and will be a critical piece for the Eskymos heading into her senior season.
Maddy also has played for the Heart Breakers travel team since she was 12, as well as participating on the Little League All-Star team between the ages of 10-16. She was on the Escanaba All-Star team that was state champions for three consecutive years (2014-2016). Those teams also took second place in Regional Tournaments in 2015 and 2016.
Griffin is also a member of the Escanaba High School basketball team. She is a National Honor Society member, as well as being a part of HOSA-Future Health Professionals. Maddy plans to pursue her studies in the field of Nursing while at Bay College.
"Maddy is an all-around strong player and brings power to the plate," commented Head Softball Coach Heidi Charon. "She has a great attitude and is an exceptionally hard worker. Maddy is exactly the kind of player we want to represent Bay College and our community."
